Sky-Watcher high-performance ED-APO refractors offer premium optical performance for the discriminating amateur astronomer. Refractors are coveted for their superb contrast, high-definition and coal-black sky background that make stars appear like diamonds embedded in black velvet.

SW APO refractors utilize the most modern optical glasses and fabricating techniques to deliver the ultimate in high-fidelity astronomical imaging. Subtle details pop as never seen before in telescopes of lesser optical capability. The additional aperture compared to a mm diameter lens provides a dramatic increase in resolution and a heighten sense of seeing lunar and planetary surface phenomenon in seemingly 3D high-definition.

Touring the Moon…the rugged Southern Highlands of the lunar surface are rich in craters. To the southeast, the famous crater Theophilus is 65 miles across. The raised triple-peaked central area is striking to observe in your SW ED. The crater has massive walls and the basin is 14, feet deep.

One of the southernmost craters, Clavius, is a very large crater miles across. It is located south of Tycho. In this same area can be found craters Maginus and Longomotanus which are also very worthy of exploration.

To the north, the young crater Tycho dominates the southern lunar landscape. Named after the famous Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe, it is a spectacular sight with very high-rimmed walls.

Your SWED will provide an impressive view.

Your SW ED will show it clearly and sharply the way you want to see it. Nearby are Alphonsus, a 70 mile wide crater, and Ptolemaus a prominent ancient crater 90 miles across with a heavily worn dark interior. We have only featured a relative few examples of what is available. The views you will experience are so clear and sharp it might just feel like a veritable space-walk.

Planets are spectacular…the inner solar-system presents the colorful rusty-red planet Mars. Mars is a challenge for amateur astronomers, but your SW ED will show some very interesting detail. Olympus Mons, a volcanic crater miles across and miles high, is just one of the quests your capable SWED can tackle. Nirgal Vallis is a channel miles long that responds well to the razor sharp contrast provided by the SW ED.

EvoStar 120ED

The SW ED will show you this detail like you want to see it. The gas giant Jupiter displays its swirling equatorial bands in high-definition with festoons and tonality within the bands. With regular observation, you will be able to follow storms and disturbances cross the planet in the southern equatorial band. Always a star-party favorite, the beautiful double Alberio located in the tail of Cygnus is sensational.

Alberio appears like a gold sparkler and its companion looks like a blue-green sparkler. It is a perfect object to view with your SW ED. In the eastern corner of Constellation Orion, Rigel, a bright blue double has a blue-green companion that requires excellent optics to see, a worthy subject for the SW ED.Sky-Watcher also offer an optically-matched 0. Hello I've had this scope for 6 months now, to be honest I quite like it it's pretty light weight at around 5 kg and the views of the moon are fantastic and clear even at high magnification, it never looks blurry or washed out which it sometimes did with my old celestron omni xlt when using high power eyepieces.

My only grumble and to be honest it's probably my imagination but when looking through my telescope the aperture seems smaller than my celestron omni Impossible I know but just appears that way. I have had this telescope for a few months now. Initially I was not sure about buying it but I am glad I did! The stars are razor sharp and the moon looks crazy on a clear night.

I tried testing it to the limit by using a 2. Well done sky watcher! My only criticism is that the finder scope image is inverted but the main tube image is the right way round and it would have been better if they are both the same to make manual observing easier, I have changed the finder for a baader sky surfer instead otherwise I would have given it five stars instead of four.

The case is very solid and overall the whole unit with the case and everything it can be carried by one hand so I can get easily get it into the car on the back seats when taking it observing. Tight globular star clusters like M13 in Constellation Hercules appear like a beehive of crisp stellar pinpoints, star upon thousands of stars deep into the objects core. In Deep-space, rich aggregates of stars within Galaxies, Nebulas, and open clusters appear brilliant contrasted against a very dark velvet black background.

Light-Baffled Optical Systems The objective lens cell is light-baffled to reject stray, unfocused light. The tube interior is flat blackened to help prevent unfocused internal light reflections from reaching the focal plane.

This focuser offers fine and ultra-fine focusing adjustments. Tube Materials The optical tube material is rolled steel, powder-coated reflective gloss black with gold fleck accent. Es Reid is highly regarded in the optical industry so if you purchase his optical bench test you can be confident your telescope will, from the outset, have well figured optics, negligible false colour and spherical aberration, and no astigmatism the bane of any optical system!

Star shapes will be round, not triangular, oval or egg-shaped! Designed primarily for demanding astro-imagers wanting high-contrast images full of detail and zero detectable colour fringing, even on the brightest of objects!

I compared its performance with high-end Officina Stellare and Astro-Physics mm and mm apos employing similar premium glass. Even at high magnification with a 3mm eyepiece, star images appeared just as sharp, aberration-free and colourless as the best. I was impressed. A dedicated Sky-Watcher Field Flattener is available that provides a wide 44mm imaging circle for use with a DSLR or other imaging device with a large sensor.

Bought the Esprit in October as an upgrade for my ED80, the delivery to Belgium took 4 days, actually shipping took less than 24hrs, it just sat at FLO for 3 days after ordering, so all n all thats reasonably fast, good job FLO!

The Esprit is on another level compared to the Evostar APO line, everything looks and feels top quality. I haven't used the scope visually, it went strait on the mount and my ASI attached to it. Currently i'm using the scope F5,25 by means of a 0,75 reducer and the testshots were very good posted on SGLthis telescope is definitely on par with higher priced scopes.

The only comment i have was that the focuser needed some adjusting, my Sesto Senso had some trouble at first, but all got sorted fairly quick and easy. I had some doubts about spending this amount of money on a refractor when I already have a 10" RC that is outstanding for imaging Galaxies etc.

But I needed something with a medium focal length for the larger nebulae so braced myself and parted with the cash. I did contemplate sending it back before I used it; glad I didn't. In spite of what has been written about it I did expect some colour fringing but I am yet to see any at all.

I do have the flattener although I don't need it for my current chip size - I bought it intending to go to large format imaging at some stage. Anybody looking for a high quality, mid-sized APO would do well to beat this and I suspect that in terms of value-for-money it is top of the pile. Unless one has cash to burn I can see no earthly reason for the average amateur to spend twice the money and more on one of the top Brand names. I really didn't expect it to be this good.

Superb scope, I also bought the Hotech flattener thinking I would need it but I don't have any curvature at all at the edge of the fov so haven't used it yet.New two-inch push-fit adapter for Sky-Watcher Focal Reducers. Manufactured from matt-black anodised aluminium with a knurled area that adds only 3mm spacing.

Includes a safety under-cut and threaded for 2-inch filters. This is the first of a new range of precision-made high quality adapters manufactured here in the UK exclusively for First Light Optics. We figure if you are using a motorised filter wheel loaded with premium-quality filters and an expensive camera, you won't want a bargain-basement adapter! Important: Not suitable for Esprit focal reducers.

These use a different thread to the other Sky-Watcher reducers.

No more dismantling the filter to fit it to the focal reducer. One or two evenings spent outside trying to rotate a DLSR camera with the ring adapter tiny screws and this adapter plus a Baader click lock for example will make sense! I've had the skywatcher 0. Perfect item! Exactly what I wanted!

Many Thanks!

Black Diamond ED Refractor

Solid, does the job of fitting the flattener to an aftermarket focuser brilliantly. Should be sold as standard. Excellent construction, well thought out and cheap. Not many things in life are perfect. This is though. After switching my Pro ED from a stock focuser to a moonlight focuser I was stuck using a 2" Hotech flattener. Although great, I wanted the 0.
